SITTEC carries out lab-scale clarification of high turbid water with titanium coagulant

November 2014 saw SITTEC specialists carry out laboratory-scale clarification of water from the tailing pond of a mineral processing plant. The tests were aimed at obtaining water parameters, which meet requirements for discharge into surface water bodies. Tailing pond water has high turbidity, since minerals contained in this water in the form of colloidal solution make up a persistent suspension.

The specialists tested different regimes of stirring with further sedimentation and flotation. The lab-scale flotation showed a degree of water clarification comparable to the “traditional” clarification method.

Comparison of different coagulants confirmed the exceptional capacity of titanium coagulant to form optimal physico-chemical conditions for water purification by means of flotation and for achieving the required degree of water purification. In 2015, the company plans to carry out experimental-industrial tests on a pilot flotation water treatment set with the use of titanium coagul ant.

SITTEC considers flotation water treatment as one of the most promising and growing segments of water purification sphere, and has made this segment a separate direction of the company’s marketing strategy.

SITTEC Ltd., which is part of IFD Kapital Group, is realizing the project of building up titanium coagulant production on the basis of Yarega oil and titanium resource (the Ukhta Region, the Komi Republic, the Russian Federation). Titanium coagulant is an innovative highly effective chemical for drinking water production, and industrial and municipal waste water treatment. The superior removal capacity of titanium coagulant is accounted for by the high adsorption capacity of titanium containing phases in the product, which has significant technical and economic advantages over other coagulants.
