Municipal unitary enterprise “Astrvodokanal” (Astrakhan) and SITTEC Ltd. carry out pilot-scale purification of water with titanium coagulant
SITTEC and Astrvodokanal have been conducting joint pilot-scale tests of titanium coagulant application for water purification in Astrakhan water treatment facilities.
On December 8, 2012 the Right-Bank water treatment facilities of “Astrvodokanal” began operating at a pilot-scale level in cold season conditions on the Volga River SITTEC’s titanium coagulant production and dosing unit.
The results of the industrial application show that the quality of drinking water purified with titanium coagulant meets all the requirements. The Volga River water in Astrakhan is currently characterized by high turbidity and low temperature (~2°C). It is noteworthy, that aluminum-based coagulants prove to be ineffective in these conditions.
The application of titanium coagulant for water treatment is planned to continue until mid-January 2013, and SITTEC is providing all the necessary help.
The laboratory tests conducted by the parties at the preparatory stage proved the high efficiency of titanium coagulant in purifying the Volga River water for the purpose of water supply to Astrakhan.
SITTEC Ltd., which is part of IFD Kapital Group, is realizing the project of building up titanium coagulant production on the basis of Yarega oil and titanium resource (the Komi Republic, the Russian Federation). Titanium coagulant is an innovative highly effective chemical for drinking water production, and industrial and municipal waste water treatment. The superior removal capacity of titanium coagulant is accounted for by the high adsorption capacity of titanium containing phases in the product, which has significant technical and economic advantages over other coagulants.
