SITTEC Ltd. takes part in the Fourth Nevsky International Ecological Congress
On May 16-18, 2011 St. Petersburg hosted the Fourth Nevsky International Ecological Congress.
The Congress was organized by:
- The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation
- The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)
- The Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States
The Congress gathered representatives of the legislative and executive branches of power of the CIS member states, as well as research institutions, business organizations, and St. Petersburg and Moscow water supply and sewerage companies – major water companies in Russia.
The most important issues discussed at the Congress included issues concerning integrated water resources management: water usage and water quality. Special attention was paid to the increase of drinking water amount, as well as to the improvement of the quality of drinking water and waste water treatment – a tendency which can be currently observed in Russia and in the CIS countries. This tendency results from stricter requirements for the protection of the environment and human health.
The concluding documents of the Congress contain recommendations regarding further development of the draft federal law On Water Supply and Sewerage aimed at the improvement of the system of state control over stable and efficient centralized water supply and sewerage. In addition, the Congress has recommended adopting a regulatory act, aimed at reducing emission of pollutants into water bodies, as well as at implementing highly efficient technologies of waste water treatment.
SITTEC Ltd., which is part of IFD Kapital Group, is realizing the project of building up titanium coagulant production on the basis of Yarega oil and titanium resource (the Komi Republic, the Russian Federation). Titanium coagulant is an innovative highly effective chemical for drinking water production, and industrial and municipal waste water treatment. The superior removal capacity of titanium coagulant is accounted for by the high adsorption capacity of titanium containing phases in the product, which has significant technical and economic advantages over other coagulants.
