SITTEC takes part in an annual international science and applied research conference
On 26 May 2016, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics hosted an international science and applied research conference on “Import substitution and non-resource-based exports growth as Russian industrial policy priorities”.
The event, held for the 7th time, was arranged jointly with Eurasian Economic Commission, Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Industry and Trade, the All-Russian Market Research Institute, Embassies of CIS countries and countries of Eastern Europe, as well as with government of the Komi Republic.
Ms. Tatiana Voronova, Doctor of Economic Sciences, pro-rector for staff development, professor of the Department of Foreign Economic Activity of the University, made an opening speech, followed by Doctor of Economic Sciences professor Sergei Valentei, the Academic Supervisor of the University, Bogdan Josef, Member of the Board (from the Slovak Republic) of the International Bank for Economic Cooperation, as well as members of Slovak and Hungarian diplomatic missions.
The conference moderators were Doctor of Economic Sciences professor Mr. Andrei Spartak, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, honoured scientist, Director of the All-Russian Market Research Institute, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Committee for Promoting Foreign Economic Activity, and Candidate of Economic Sciences Mr. Grigoriy Sarishvili, permanent representative of the Komi Republic to the President of the Russian Federation, docent of the Department of Foreign Economic Activity of Plekhanov Russian University for Economics.
General attention was engaged by the report made by Igor Chechikov, Deputy Director-General of SITTEC for Commercial Affairs. The report covering the core issues of the conference was focus of discussions among the conference participants.
The event brought forward such important issues as Eurasian Economic Union as additional source of economic development and export capacity fulfilment for members of the Union; financial and non-financial measures to support Russian export-oriented companies; import substitution as component of the country’s social and economic development; Russian and foreign experience; diversification of Russia’s export and import strategy based on the country’s geo-economical interests, etc.
