SITTEC expands titanium coagulant tests on water for reservoir pressure maintenance systems
SITTEC and one of the leading Russian oil research and design institutes carried out joint preliminary tests on titanium coagulant application for increased oil recovery.
The tests were aimed at improving water treatment technologies for reservoir pressure maintenance systems and reducing the frequency of injection wells overhauls with low quality of water purification at small horizontal tanks (200m3) and high discharge of reservoir water for purification (up to 5,000m3/day).
One of the tests used water with high salt content (up to 230 g/l) and density (1.153g/cm3), low temperature (10-15 C°), and with an initial oil emulsion concentration of 400 mg/l.
The second test used water with low salt content (up to 4 g/l) and density, but with high temperature (80-90 C°), and with an initial oil emulsion concentration of 150 mg/l.
The tests confirmed considerable (6-7 times) reduction of oil content in reservoir water treated with titanium coagulant solutions. Titanium coagulant application makes it possible to improve the quality of water used in reservoir pressure maintenance systems without any substantial change in equipment.
The work will continue in the months to come.
SITTEC Ltd., which is part of IFD Kapital Group, carries out titanium coagulant production on the basis of Yarega oil and titanium resource (the Ukhta Region, the Komi Republic, the Russian Federation). Titanium coagulant is an innovative highly effective chemical for drinking water production, and industrial and municipal wastewater treatment. The superior removal capacity of titanium coagulant is accounted for by the high adsorption capacity of titanium containing phases in the product, which has significant technical and economic advantages over other coagulants.
